The First Tee of Greater Akron Welcomes New Executive Director November 16, 2018 – Akron, OH: The First Tee of Greater Akron is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff O’Brien as Executive Director.  O’Brien will oversee corporate and foundation fundraising and overall management of the non-profit organization and Mud Run Golf Course & Driving Range, home of The First Tee of Greater Akron.  The First Tee of Greater Akron is part of a national non-profit organization that impacts the lives of local youth by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. O’Brien comes to The First Tee of Greater Akron from Shaker Heights Country Club where he served as the Director of Membership & Clubhouse Services.  Prior to that, he worked for the Cleveland Monsters/Cleveland Cavaliers in corporate sales and in production at ESPN in Connecticut. Mark Krohn, President of The First Tee of Greater Akron’s board, said “We couldn’t be more pleased in what we were able to secure in hiring Jeff.  In our search we were looking for someone with a sales or corporate fundraising background who also had a deep understanding of golf course management, general business leadership and is someone who knows his/her way around the golf course.  Jeff exceeded our expectations as we were not certain we could find all those things in one person.” O’Brien played Division I golf at Loyola University Maryland and enjoys hockey. O’Brien has already hit the ground running, starting November 7, by meeting with local board members and philanthropists who have supported the First Tee.  The First Tee of Greater Akron operates out of Mud Run Golf Course & Driving Range on South Hawkins Avenue in Akron. Classes are offered during Spring, Summer, and Fall. The 2019 class schedule will be posted soon at www.firstteeakron.org.
